another thing about "miles to go"

This essay mentions how African Americans are more likely to be unemployed and live in poverty.

Is this just still left from the truly racist time? I have a feeling it is, but I also have another thought, and I am not trying to be racist by any means. It is just that I find some people to take advantage of their race in a negative way. They feel they should be given everything because their ancestors were treated horribly. This is America and everyone should be treated fairly, and of course I feel horrible about what my ancestors did, ashamed actually, but I feel everyone should be given equal chances and work for what they want, and I agree some people work their butts off and still don't get anywhere. I think the upperclass should help this situation. I know its not their duty and they did earn their money by working hard. But isn't it humane and down right nice to share sometimes? I wish life wasn't so complicated and people could all get along.
