What's in a name?

In our discussions about names and identities, I couldn't help but ask the question: Does the name form a person or does the person form the name? I can see the answer would be both, but I don't know about you, I have had instances where I thought someone matched their name perfectly. They could not go by any other name. For instance, maybe a Richard looks like a Richard to you, but is it his personality that makes him seem like a Richard, or is it just simply his name is his identity? This could definitely go in circles. But I believe a name given to a new born child doesn't make that child's identity but the other way around. Names do have meanings, but I find them to be generic and anyone can find in some way how their name's meaning can relate to their personality. Its like an astrology horoscope. Their fun to read and learn about but does that horoscope really relate to you and only you? Again it can go both ways, which is why I find it interesting.
